More Target Audience:
The merchandise Marvel sells is heavily geared to young boys and teenagers however, their videogames tend to be primarily geared more towards younger boys. Age of Ultron contains a lot of conventions from the action genre and therefore it attracts people who love action, in particular, teenagers. Explosions and fighting are two of the main conventions shown. If, for example, Age of Ultron didn't contain a lot of fighting or explosions etc, the audience it's trying to reach wouldn't be interested. The reason so many teenagers enjoy the film is because it has a good balance between the action and the secondary narrative between The Hulk and Black Widow as in this movie their love story continues from where it left off in the previous film.

There are several reasons that people might be drawn to Age of Ultron. One of these reasons may be the genre of the movie. Teenagers and others that enjoy action movies and/or superhero movies tend to go see new action movies because they like the fights or the drama etc. They find these things fun to watch and with a movie like this, they get exactly what they want.

Things that might influence consumers to go and watch the movie might include hearing about it from friends and/or family, seeing adverts on TV or on the internet that entice them and get them excited for to see the movie or simply the fact that they may have seen the previous movie and would like to see the continuation of the storyline and to see the characters on the big screen again.

Interview , Distribution of Product - Jorge, Adam, Charlie

Distribution:
Age of Ultron was created and produced my Marvel Studios. Once the film had been finalised and the final cut of the video was done, copies of the film were sent to cinemas and theatres across the world, mainly being shown in multiplex (4,276 North American locations) and IMAX cinemas (364 USA). After some time, in this case 4 months after the cinema release, the movie was released to the public via DVD and Blu Ray discs as well as digital copies (digital release September 8 2015, DVD/Blu-Ray and on-demand October 2, 2015). In certain instances, movies also get put on online streaming services such as Now TV and Netflix after deals struck by the companies with the first Avengers movie being available on the American version of Netflix. Thor and Captain America: The First Avenger are examples of other Marvel movies being licensed for distribution via online services like Netflix.

Age of Ultron is a typical summer blockbuster. Marvel spends a lot of their money on advertising to create hype for their new releases via teaser trailers and full trailers both online and on TV as well as spending money on posters and billboards. Adverts on the side of buses are used as well due to the likelihood of people seeing it as they go everywhere with examples being some that I've seen personally around the city. Promoting the film early helps to further persuade the audience to go and see the film as the public have more time to decide and become more excited for the launch of the movie. This example of a billboard gives us the release date and a poster of the movie to inform us of the movies release. The colours used consist mainly of reds, whites and blues to reflect both the colour of Captain America but also allow the audience to feel a sense of familiarity as these colours were also used in the first Avengers movie. The four "main" Avengers; The Hulk, Iron man, Captain America and Thor are seen roughly in the middle of the image to highlight them as key characters as well as the draw the audience's attention to them as they are familiar faces that almost anyone would recognise. There were several different versions of the Age of Ultron trailer that were shown on TV however the total budget and how many were made I am unable to find online. In this ad, shots were typically fast and quick leaving the audience craving more of the action.

Analysis of Age of Ultron:
The trailer starts of with reasonably long, warmly coloured shots with slow, intense dramatic music with Ultron giving a monologue.
At about 44 seconds into the trailer, the music changes to a high pitched, eerie singing relaying what Ultron was saying about having "strings" and now being free accompanied by several action shots.
Hitting the 1 minute mark we see the action picking up with Tony Stark's new Hulkbuster suit being shown to the audience at 1:25.
All of this combined creates a sort of enigma as to who Ultron is and why things have escalated so quickly, especially since when the new suit is introduced we see that Iron Man is now facing off with The Hulk, one of his supposed allies. We also get introduced to two new characters that we haven't seen before further adding to the audience's curiosity about what's going on. The trailer gives away very little away when it comes to the actual story of the movie creating tensions, suspense and forcing the audience to question what's happening and thus providing incentive to see the movie. The reason the trailer starts with longer, slower shots and then has quicker and more fast paced shots during the action sequences is to quicken the feel of the trailer and create more tension. Furthermore, the camera shots, in a way, tell part of the story too. For example, in times where the story is becoming more dramatic, close ups are being used to focus on the expressions of the actors informing the audience on how these characters are feeling.
This again increases the amount of questions one may have since we don't understand why these characters are feeling the way they do and this might in turn spike the audience's interest in seeing the movie.
